KuCoin has identified alleged hackers, the police are on7. Oktober 2020
The decentralized crypto exchange is continuing its efforts to clear up the hacker attack.
While the aftermath of the hacking attack on KuCoin is still being felt, the crypto exchange has since announced that it has identified the suspects and officially turned on law enforcement agencies
Accordingly, KuCoin CEO Johnny Lyu reported on Twitter on October 3rd that the crypto trading platform had clear evidence of who was responsible for the hacker attack on September 26th.
As Lyu further states , KuCoin was able to recover an additional $ 64 million in funds from suspicious addresses with the help of other crypto companies.
This means that a total of USD 204 million has now been recovered
In addition, the trading platform is increasingly returning to normal operations. According to Lyu, deposits and withdrawals are available again for 31 crypto currencies. This should also be possible again soon for the three big cryptos BTC, ETH and USDT.
The hacking attack on KuCoin is the first major case in which a so-called “decentralized crypto exchange” is misused for money laundering. It is estimated that just under $ 200 million was stolen in the wake of the hack, but some experts fear the damage could be much higher.
